PAYMENT CALCULATORKEY DIFFERENTIATORSPARTS/ACCESSORIESREVIEWS/AWARDSLooking at Double Bubble by HoleShot, also the Givi Touring Screen. Zero Gravity makes one too. With the stock screen I find a lot of buffeting there that my 1998 Bandit never had, and not much protection. Looking for some shelter, even if it costs me power and mileage, but dont want the buffeting. Any tips?
I previously had a 1998 Bandit 1200, test drove many bikes incl Concours and BMW GS and Honda ST, landed back on the Bandit. The combination of performance, handling, and value is a winner. The things I didn't like about the 1998 have been improved. Fuel injection, liquid cooling, better mirrors, and a 6th gear. Carves corners a lot better too.
Just got my seconds bandit (last one was a 97 which was a great bike). I like the 97 so much I didn't even seriously consider anything except the 08 Bandit 1250 (ABS, three bags).
LIke I said, the 97 was a great bike and I was a bit afraid the 08 wouldn't measure up even though every review I saw told me otherwise.
I guess I'll just throw out a few words to describe it...
- torque monster
- smooth power roll on
- massive power band
- pretty (a lot better looking than the 97)
- incredibly stable on curves and corners
Everything just feels right.
Good bike. Great value. Engine pulls nicely right away and great after 4500rpm. Not superbike fast but fast. Suspension is firm but not too firm, sporty. Bike has a nice overall sense of balance and quality. This bike is a true sport standard. Commuter, sport tourer? Just add soft luggage and a taller screen.
I've never ridden a Bandit, but I think the handling should be better than a Boulevard S83. The brakes should also be better than the S83, since it's brakes are the worst of any motorcycle. Lastly it should be faster since the S83 puts out about 55 hp from a 1350 cc bike.
Having not ridden for almost 8 years I was in a position to buy a new bike.
I had previously had a Kawasaki GPZ 1100 and thought I would aim for that.I road about 60 600cc bikes thinking that would do me,Then on advice from a friend road the Bandit.
For 12K on the road and power, balance, stopping nothing comes close at this price.
You would need 20K+ to get the same features ala Yamaha FJR BMW etc.
Glad I bought one and have done 6000Klm.
My 2007 Bandit is the only bike that will compair to my Triumph Tiger 06. It's a little shorter in the iseam which I like. The bike is also just as quick or maybe quicker, the real pluss is the smoothness and the fine Transmission that alone puts this bike in the winner circle.

I recently purchased the Bandit 1250 SA after looking and riding other brands. The Bandit has power from 2000 rpm onwards which makes it ideal in the communter role as I do not have to be constantly dancing on the gear lever as I was with the FZ1 and yet it can still be blindingly fast when overtaking on the open road and it is capable of very high (tests show 250 kph speeds are attainable)speeds.
I'm a life long rider of 65. This is my 113th motorcycle and it's a wonderful machine. Will use it for Sport Touring after a few mods. It's stable, smooth, powerful and looks good. The ABS works well and the handling is light and predictable. As you can tell I like it.
